Coils wear out. A burnt or muted flavor usually means it's time to swap. When you install a fresh coil, prime it and let it sit filled for a few minutes before the first draw.
When you change flavors or notice buildup, disassemble the tank and rinse the parts with warm water, then dry fully before reassembling.
